Listening Room

Together with Natacha Diels at University of Pennsylvania and Matthew Shlomowitz at University of Southampton, we are setting up a monthly Listening Room session to share work by staff and PGR students at our respective institutions. In advance of the sessions we will circulate a piece each by two composers for everyone to listen to, and then meet to discuss what we heard. So it’s a bit like a book group, but with new music.

The first session on 6 November will feature work by Southampton composers Max Syedtollan and Heather Mease, followed by a second meeting on 4 December with work by Rory Murphy (Bath Spa) and Joseph Franklin (Pennsylvania). We are hoping to open the sessions up to others in the future after trialling the idea this semester.
